Moonphase 1 Meteorite

GENERAL
DIAL
MOVEMENT
TECHNICAL DETAILS

The moon phase project started back in 2020. At that time, Felipe identified an absence of 3D moon phase complications in the market. Motivated by this observation, Felipe embarked on the endeavor of creating one himself. His aspiration was not only to design a 3D moon phase but also to handcraft it. Employing solely traditional hand-crafting techniques and aided by manually operated tools, Felipe set out to craft gears and components. On a production scale that is a very unusual and rare approach.

Our commitment to preserving the ethos of traditional watchmaking is executed through our production methods and not only by design and finishing.

Following the sell-out success of the first moon phase, we are currently developing two new iterations. These include a variant featuring a meteorite dial for the Moon Phase One, and the Moon Phase 2, a completely new timepiece with exciting innovations.

The dial of the Felipe Pikullik "Mondphase 1 Meteorite" is a true work of art, crafted from genuine meteorite, specifically the Gibeon meteorite, which fell to Earth over 80 million years ago in Laramidia, an ancient landmass that corresponds to parts of today’s western North America. This ancient material gives the watch a unique, textured appearance, reflecting light in a way that constantly changes, making each glance at the watch a distinct experience. Surrounding the dial, the chapter ring and hands are heat-treated, resulting in a striking blue-purple gradient from the fire-heating process. This vibrant touch enhances the open-worked gear system, where finely beveled edges catch the light beautifully. Hand-engraved details, like "Felipe Pikullik" and "In Berlin gefertigt," add a personal, artisan touch. At 9 o’clock, the prominent moon phase display provides a celestial charm, completing the design with elegance and depth.

The moon phase movement represents our most complicated achievement yet, not due to the complexity of the complication itself, but rather because of the handcrafted approach. The base movement undergoes an overhaul, including adjustments to the main plate to accommodate the complication. Executing these steps by hand requires a heightened level of precision, as even slight imperfections could destroy the entire process. The moon phase movement features the most difficult beveling techniques.

While crafting interior angles poses a significant challenge, the most demanding aspect is in the intermediate beveling which is applied within a single bridge, creating the impression of two different parts. The highly skeletonized movement is finished with sandblasted black rhodium-plated bridges contrasting the mirror-polished beveling.

Introducing our FP collection, we proudly present the FP Klassik. Serving as the gateway to our collection, the F P Klassik harmonizes classic design with traditional craftsmanship, presenting a timepiece that is elegantly simple yet universally appealing. Moreover, the FP Klassik establishes the cornerstone upon which we plan to further elevate our innovation process, especially concerning high-end complication pieces.

The FP Klassik dial features a timeless design highlighted by traditional elements. The dial surface is kept in a matte frosted finish, adding a grainy texture to its appearance. Contrasted with the applied polished hour and minute markers, as well as the hand-treated and hand-polished hands, the dial combines both shiny and matt elements. This combination results in a pleasing and elegant appeal that suits every occasion.

The FP Klassik movement embodies our renowned ZBMI design, also found in models like the Sternenhimmel and ZBMI. Meticulous skeletonization and precise hand beveling ensure sharp edges and refined interior angles, reflecting our dedication to detail. The movement plates undergo sandblasting, resulting in a distinctive texture. In contrast to the black rhodium-plated movement, the gold-plated balance cock takes center stage. Enhanced by hand-engraving and mirror-polished bevels, it elevates the movement's overall aesthetic appeal. The crown and ratchet wheel features the snailing technique, while the hour, minute, and second wheels showcase circular graining. Complementing the plates, the screws are mirror polished. ZBM1

GENERAL
DIAL
MOVEMENT
TECHNICAL DETAILS

Felipe's early journey was defined by the creation of skeleton watches with open-worked dials. The first ever watch to feature a closed dial was the ZBM1 collection, with the hand-engraved dial. Hand engraving serves not only as a captivating design element but also as a means to uphold our handcrafted identity across the board. Preserving and cherishing hand-crafted and finished details is the core theme that underpins the ZBM1 collection.

The ZBM1 collection refers to the dial, translated from German as "Zifferblatt Modell 1" or "dial model number one." The dial was meticulously crafted with hand engraving for decoration and paired with hand-set gemstones for hour markers. Finished in black rhodium with a frosted outer ring, the dial serves as a showcase of handcrafted and hand-finished details, embodying the core identity of Felipe’s watchmaking identity.

The ZBM1 movement is hand-skeletonized and finished using a variety of traditional techniques. Found also in the Sternenhimmel and the FPSK, the ZBM1 is an essential movement in the Felipe Pikullik collection. To highlight a few key features, the hand-skeletonized movement is beveled and mirror-polished by hand, enabling us to achieve complicated surfaces, including interior angles. The gears are finished using either the sunburst technique or circular graining. Additionally, the mirror-polished screws and the gold-plated hand-engraved balance cock provide a striking contrast against the frosted and black rhodium-plated bridges.

FPSK

Celebrating the beauty of hand finishing through open work

GENERAL
DIAL
MOVEMENT
TECHNICAL DETAILS

The FPSK Series (Felipe Pikullik Skeleton) is an annual limited edition of fully hand-skeletonized watches, embodying the essence of Felipe Pikulluk's craftsmanship. During his early days in watchmaking, lacking expensive tools, Felipe devoted countless hours to mastering the challenging art of hand skeletonization. Despite the minimal tool requirements, mastering hand skeletonization is one of the most demanding tasks. The FPSK skeleton serves as a testament, celebrating the exquisite beauty of hand finishing in every detail. From start to finish, each step in the finishing process is meticulously executed by hand using traditional methods. The first edition of the FPSK started with a five-piece limited series in 2022.

The Dial of the FPSK consists of the back plate of the movement in combination with a laser-cut chapter ring. The 2023 edition which marks the second edition in the series pays homage to one of Felipe’s early skeletons, the model circulum. The design is marked by circular shapes mainly, that are intentionally disrupted to cause a partial asymmetry. The finish of the dial including the engraving is carried out with great care and high attention to detail, as small mistakes could lead to the dial being unusable. Doing that by hand is a blessing and a curse at the same time. A blessing as it allows us to feature designs and shapes that are not possible otherwise and a curse as small mistakes could lead to a total failure of the part.

The FPSK 2023 movement is finished with the same care and attention to detail as the dial side. The movement plates are precisely hand-skeletonized and beveled before undergoing engraving. Incorporating both polished bevels and hand-engraved surfaces leaves us with no room for error. All the steps in the process are followed with high concentration and attention to detail. The movement in every FP watch is designed not only to fit aesthetics but also, with equal importance, to prioritize maintaining functionality and the technical stability of the movement. Felipe’s long experience with Skeleton watches allows him to incorporate both creative surfaces while obtaining technical functionality.

Sternenhimmel “starry sky”

Showcasing the beauty of astronomy and hand finishing

GENERAL
DIAL
MOVEMENT
TECHNICAL DETAILS

Felipe's biggest passion and source of inspiration, besides the technical aspects of watchmaking, lies in the crossover it creates with other scientific subjects, particularly astronomy. After setting his goal to develop and build a handmade 3D moon complication, Felipe stumbled upon the idea for the Sternenhimmel along the way. It is a simpler watch, astronomically inspired and finished to high standards. The Sternenhimmel was first launched in 2021, marking a significant step forward for the entire FP collection and setting the foundation for upcoming astronomical complications, including the 3D moon phase.

The Sternenhimmel "starry sky" design embodies simplicity, elegance, and handcraft. Its dial showcases various handcrafted features, including hand-set diamonds, hand-treated hands, a polished and beveled nameplate, and handmade dial feet. The crystals within the aventurine glass evoke a starry sky effect, complemented by the polished beveled edges of the nameplate and hand-polished hands, highlighting the overall charm of the Sternenhimmel design.

The Sternenhimmel movement embodies our renowned ZBMI movement, initially introduced in the ZBMI collection. Meticulous skeletonization and precise hand beveling ensure sharp edges and refined interior angles, reflecting our dedication to detail. The thick polished bevels, contrasting with the sandblasted black rhodium-plated bridges, create an unmistakable appeal. Hand engraving on the balance cock and mirror-polished bevels further enhances the movement's overall aesthetics. The crown and ratchet wheel features the snailing technique, while circular graining adorns the hour, minute, and second wheels. Complementing the plates, the screws are mirror polished.

The dial of the moon phase one is unique in many ways, showcasing diverse techniques and design elements. Starting with the partially skeletonized brass dial, it unveils the handcrafted complication within. The process of skeletonizing is accompanied by beveling, resulting in polished bevels beautifying the dial. In contrast to these polished bevels, we encounter the frosted, grainy texture of the dial, complemented by hand-engraved details and a mirror-polished chapter ring.

The intentional asymmetry of the design reflects Felipe's design language. The moon display is positioned for the southern hemisphere, undermining Felipe's deep connection to his Brazilian heritage.

The moon phase movement represents our most complicated achievement yet, not due to the complexity of the complication itself, but rather because of the handcrafted approach.
